9th Circ. Told Court Violated Law In Prison Health Care Suit

Law360, San Francisco (September 11, 2013, 7:57 PM ET) -- California prison officials urged the Ninth Circuit on Wednesday to reverse a California federal court's order requiring them to produce experts and documents in a long-running class action over prison health care conditions, arguing the order delays an automatic stay the Prison Litigation Reform Act guarantees them.

Under the act, prison leaders can file a motion to terminate a prison-conditions case two years after a court orders relief and conditions have changed, at which point the court must grant an automatic stay within 30 days, argued...
