Covidien IV Disinfectant Caps Targeted In Patent Suit

Law360, New York (September 13, 2013, 2:26 PM ET) -- Ivera Medical Corp. on Thursday hit Covidien PLC with a patent infringement suit in California federal court in the company’s latest effort to protect three of its patents covering a product designed to disinfect intravenous valves used to treat blood infections.

Carlsbad, Calif.-based Ivera claims Covidien has infringed three of its federally registered patents, each of which is titled “Medical Implement Cleaning Device,” with its line of products collectively known in the suit as Kendall Disinfectant Caps.
