Edwards' Invalidity Claims Tossed In Nerve-Tech Patent Row

Law360, Los Angeles (September 17, 2013, 4:51 PM ET) -- A California federal court Tuesday granted Medtronic Inc. a victory in its patent suit over nerve stimulation technology against rival medical device maker Edwards Lifesciences Corp., ruling that the parties agreed over Medtronic's construction claim language covering rapid pacing manipulating cardiac rhythms.

U.S. District Judge James V. Selna said that nothing in Medtronic's plain language of a claim in U.S. Patent Number 7,184,829, titled "Method and system for nerve stimulation prior to and during a medical procedure," encompasses slowing, stopping or increasing cardiac rhythms.
