Agencies Launch Initiative To Protect ACA Exchange Data

Law360, Washington (September 18, 2013, 4:39 PM EDT) -- Three federal agencies on Wednesday announced they have launched a joint effort to help protect against consumer fraud and privacy violations for data submitted through Affordable Care Act-mandated health insurance exchanges, following continued lawmaker concerns.

Under the initiative — a joint effort of the U.S. departments of Justice and Health and Human Services and the Federal Trade Commission — fraud and privacy complaints related to the insurances exchanges will be routed through a centralized database, the FTC's Consumer Sentinel Network, or CSN.
