Ex-VA Official Admits $1.2M In Contracting Kickbacks

Law360, New York (September 18, 2013, 7:50 PM EDT) -- A former Department of Veterans Affairs employee in New Jersey pled guilty Wednesday to steering government contracts to an associate's companies and reaping more than $1.2 million in kickbacks.

Jarod Machinga, a supervisory general engineer at the VA's campus in East Orange, N.J., also partnered with that individual to scam the government into thinking that a service-disabled veteran owned one of those businesses, which wasn't the case, according to U.S. Attorney Paul J.
