AT&T Settles VoIP Suit, Gets Patent License

Law360, New York (February 19, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- AT&T Inc. will become the first licensee of a voice-over-Internet protocol patent owned by C2 Communications Technologies Inc. after settling an infringement lawsuit with C2. The lawsuit remains pending against several other prominent telecommunications companies.

C2, which is almost fully owned by the asset management firm Counsel Corp., announced the settlement Tuesday. The agreement, which still requires court approval, would end C2's litigation against AT&T in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

The settlement's terms are confidential.
