Colombia Settles With Ecuador Over Anti-Drug Spraying

Law360, New York (September 19, 2013, 6:21 PM ET) -- Colombia has agreed to compensate Ecuador for aerial fumigation of coca plants by Colombia along the two countries’ common border that allegedly destroyed crops, killed livestock and sickened rural farmers in Ecuador, Ecuador’s attorneys said Thursday.

Under the agreement, which resolves Ecuador’s suit at the International Court of Justice, Colombia will compensate Ecuador for past harm to people, crops and livestock, and restrict its future spraying operations to assure that none of the spray crosses into Ecuador, according to a statement released by Foley Hoag LLP....
