Indonesia Picks WTO Fight Against Australian Tobacco Law

Law360, New York (September 20, 2013, 9:00 PM ET) -- Indonesia on Friday reportedly joined a growing chorus of countries that have raised protests before the World Trade Organization over Australia's requirement that cigarettes be sold in generic, drab packaging bearing grotesque images of dead and diseased smokers.

The Southeast Asian nation filed a formal request for consultations with Australia over a law mandating that tobacco companies package their products in boxes devoid of logos and covered with warning labels and grisly photos, the French news agency AFP reported.
