2nd Circ. Won’t Force Judge Off Chevron’s Ecuador Case

Law360, New York (September 26, 2013, 7:39 PM EDT) -- The Second Circuit on Thursday refused to force a judge off of the upcoming fraud trial against lawyers for Ecuadoreans who won a $19 billion environmental judgment against Chevron Corp., despite complaints about his supposed friendliness with the oil giant.

A panel from the appeals court, after hearing oral arguments Thursday morning, denied a request from the Ecuadoreans to overturn several rulings from U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan and to pull him from the case.
