Former Exxon Worker Admits Stealing $1M With Invoice Scam

Law360, Houston (September 20, 2013, 8:06 PM ET) -- A former Exxon Mobil Corp. employee pled guilty Friday to federal criminal charges that he helped launch a bogus invoicing scam that cost the oil and gas giant more than $1 million.

As a part of a plea deal reached with prosecutors, Garry W. Arnold pled guilty to a single mail fraud count and admitted he helped create bogus invoices that Exxon unwittingly paid to an approved vendor which funneled the proceeds back to Arnold.

Arnold’s lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment...
