DC Archdiocese Sues To Block Contraception Mandate

Law360, Los Angeles (September 20, 2013, 10:17 PM ET) -- The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington, along with a slew of Catholic schools and charities, on Friday hit the federal government with the latest in a series of suits alleging the Affordable Care Act’s contraception mandate violates religious rights.

The lawsuit, which names the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the agencies’ respective secretaries as defendants, alleges the defendants promoted a mandate that forces the plaintiffs to violate their sincerely held religious beliefs....
