Boston U. Sues Canon, Blackberry Over Semiconductor Patent

Law360, Los Angeles (September 20, 2013, 8:23 PM EDT) -- The trustees of Boston University on Friday launched a new series of patent infringement suits against technology companies including Canon Inc. and Blackberry Ltd., accusing them of manufacturing and selling products containing a semiconductor device patented by one of its professors. 

In six near-identical complaints filed in Massachusetts federal court, the trustees asserted Canon, Blackberry and others have infringed and continue to infringe U.S. Patent Number 5,686,738 by manufacturing and selling various electronic devices, including the Canon Powershot A2500 digital camera and the RIM Blackberry Z10...
