DirecTV Sued Over Speech Recognition Technology

Law360, New York (February 19, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Phoenix Solutions Inc. has sued DirecTV Group Inc., alleging that the interactive voice response system the defendant uses to field calls from customers infringes four patents related to computer-based speech recognition technology.

The complaint, which was filed on Feb. 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, seeks damages as well as preliminary and permanent injunctions barring the defendant from making or using any system that infringes the patents-in-suit.
