WTO Chief Says Political Differences Slowing Trade Talks

Law360, New York (September 23, 2013, 7:38 PM EDT) -- Ten weeks before World Trade Organization members are scheduled to converge in Indonesia for a pivotal round of negotiations, new WTO head Roberto Azevedo said political differences have up until this point hindered talks between member nations.

Although Azevedo said global trade talks have been progressing on several fronts, he urged member nations to expedite talks regarding non-tariff trade barriers that have remained a sticking point in the negotiations.
