Carlyle Scoops Up $2.6B Real Estate Fund Of Funds Manager

Law360, New York (September 25, 2013, 11:47 AM EDT) -- The Carlyle Group LP said on Wednesday that it is acquiring Metropolitan Real Estate Equity Management LLC, a deal that adds a real estate fund of funds manager with more than $2.6 billion worth of investments to the Washington, D.C.-based private equity giant.

The deal is the latest in Carlyle's efforts to build out its global solutions unit, which includes fund of funds manager AlpInvest Partners BV, according to the firm. Metropolitan will become a part of AlpInvest, which already manages 81 fund of funds vehicles...
