Alaska High Court Rules For Shipping Rate Refunds

Law360, New York (February 20, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The Alaska Supreme Court has agreed with a determination by the state's regulatory commission that owners of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline should refund part of the shipping rates they charged refiners from 1997 to 2000.

Tesoro Alaska Co. and Williams Alaska Petroleum Inc., refiners of Alaska's North Slope oil, had protested the 1997 intrastate rates for the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System in late 1996. The companies argued that there was no way the TAPS owners could prove that their intrastate rates were just and reasonable.
