LexisNexis Could Have Suffered Data Breach, FBI Says

Law360, New York (September 26, 2013, 7:08 PM ET) -- The FBI said Thursday that it is investigating the possible hacking of data brokers LexisNexis Inc., Dun & Bradstreet Inc. and an Altegrity Inc. unit by a criminal organization that sells personal information online.

News of the breaches was first reported on former Washington Post reporter Brian Kreb's blog KrebsonSecurity, which said it had uncovered them during a seven-month investigation into the website ssndob.ms' operations. The site allegedly sells Social Security numbers, birth records, credit and background reports for Bitcoin and WebMoney, the blog said....
