NorthWestern To Pay $900M For PPL Montana Hydro Facilities

Law360, Los Angeles (September 26, 2013, 9:30 PM EDT) -- NorthWestern Corp. has reached an agreement to purchase 11 hydroelectric facilities from PPL Montana LLC for $900 million, the companies announced Thursday. 

Sioux Falls, S.D.-based NorthWestern, which provides utility services in South Dakota, Nebraska and Montana, touted the acquisition of PPL Montana's hydroelectric facilities and its Hebgen Lake reservoir as a way to reduce its reliance on third-party power purchase agreements and spot market purchases.
