Samsung Seeks White House Veto Of ITC Smartphone Ban

Law360, New York (September 27, 2013, 6:06 PM EDT) -- Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. has asked the Obama administration to veto an import ban instated by the U.S. International Trade Commission on some models of its smartphones found to infringe two Apple Inc. patents, with a decision expected by Oct. 8.

In an Aug. 28 letter to U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman, Samsung said it would be unfair to allow the import ban issued by the ITC in August to take effect because Apple's patents cover only "trivial" aspects of Samsung's complex smartphones.
