IBM Settles With DOJ Over Job Posting Discrimination Claims

Law360, Los Angeles (September 27, 2013, 9:46 PM ET) -- International Business Machines Corp. on Thursday agreed to settle allegations by the U.S. Justice Department that it discriminated against U.S. workers in violation of the Immigration and Nationality Act when it placed online job postings indicating preferences for F-1 and H-1B temporary visa holders, according to the DOJ. 

Under the settlement agreement, IBM has agreed to pay $44,000 in civil penalties to the U.S. The Armonk, N.Y.-based technology and consulting firm also agreed to revise its hiring and recruiting procedures and train its human resources personnel...
