Deals Rumor Mill: America Movil, Icahn, J&J

By Karlee Weinmann (October 1, 2013, 3:47 PM EDT) -- Talks over America Movil SAB's proposed $9.6 billion buyout of Dutch rival Royal KPN NV are hung up on disagreements over the proposed purchase price, sources told Bloomberg on Tuesday. Mexico's America Movil, owned by billionaire Carlos Slim, has so far stuck firm to the consideration outlined in its offer, despite rebukes from some stakeholders and analysts that KPN commands a higher price. And KPN appears to agree, citing a tax offset tied to a separate sale of its German operations make it a more valuable acquisition target. The Mexican company has said it would proceed this month with a tender offer for the slice of KPN it does not already own....
