Navy’s $100M Undersea Warfare Range Cleared By 11th Circ.

Law360, Los Angeles (October 1, 2013, 8:46 PM ET) -- The Eleventh Circuit affirmed a district court’s grant of summary judgment for the U.S. Department of the Navy on Tuesday, rejecting arguments from environmental groups who challenged the Navy’s decision to install and operate a $100 million undersea warfare training range.
The decision comes more than a year after a Georgia federal judge handed the Navy a quick win in the environmental challenge, finding the Navy had adequately analyzed the potential impact on endangered whales and other species. Rejecting claims from the Natural Resources Defense Council,...
