$1.2B In Mid-Atlantic Power Grid Upgrades Approved By PJM

Law360, New York (October 4, 2013, 3:48 PM EDT) -- The board of PJM Interconnection LLC has approved $1.2 billion in upgrades and replacements to the Mid-Atlantic power infrastructure in a bid to strengthen the grid after Superstorm Sandy and accommodate new power sources, the regional transmission organizer announced Thursday.

PJM's authority extends over hundreds of member companies, which are now mandated to make the authorized upgrades. Most of the projects comprising the $1.2 billion total are relatively small, local replacements of power lines, transformers and substations.
