Judge OKs Stay In $115M Philly Sheriff's Office Fraud Row

Law360, Philadelphia (October 10, 2013, 3:58 PM ET) -- A state judge agreed Thursday to stay a lawsuit accusing a former Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office vendor of using no-bid contracts to bilk the city out of more than $100 million after federal prosecutors raised concerns that discovery in the civil suit could include evidence gathered in related criminal proceedings.

Judge Albert Snite Jr. in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas agreed that ongoing criminal prosecutions related to the suit warranted staying the civil proceedings to ensure that material gathered by federal investigators remained protected....
