USTR Won't Veto ITC Ban On Some Samsung Smartphones

Law360, New York (October 8, 2013, 4:24 PM EDT) -- The Obama administration on Tuesday refused to veto a ban on imports of some Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. smartphones found to infringe two Apple Inc. patents, ruling that contrary to Samsung's concerns, the U.S. International Trade Commission's order is not overly broad.

Since U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman rejected Samsung's request that he overturn the ITC's exclusion order, issued in August, it will take effect on Wednesday, barring imports of some older models of Samsung phones.
