High Court Nips Review Of Ex-Newark Mayor's Appeal

Law360, New York (October 7, 2013, 4:00 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday refused to hear former Newark, N.J., Mayor Sharpe James' bid for a new trial following his 2008 conviction for criminally steering public projects and land deals to his mistress, upholding a Third Circuit ruling that a juror did not show bias.

The Supreme Court denied without comment James' petition for writ of certiorari challenging a February ruling by the Third Circuit that James wasn't prejudiced by a juror who mistakenly answered two questions in a pretrial questionnaire.
