EU, Canada Want In On WTO Row Over Australian Tobacco Law

Law360, New York (October 7, 2013, 5:25 PM EDT) -- The European Union, Canada and other countries have asked to take part in consultations in a World Trade Organization dispute brought by Indonesia over an Australian tobacco packaging law, according to recent WTO documents.

In WTO documents dated Friday and Monday, and filed by the EU and Canada respectively, the two countries requested to join formal consultations in a WTO dispute over an Australian law that requires tobacco products to be sold in generic packaging and carry graphic health warnings about the risks of using tobacco....
