EU Trade Chief Touts Virtues Of Investment Pact With China

Law360, New York (October 8, 2013, 6:38 PM ET) -- The European Union's top trade official said Tuesday that an investment agreement with China would yield a windfall of new opportunities for the 28-nation bloc and provide an opportunity to hold China to a high standard of investment protection.

EU Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht said the two partners are aiming to launch formal negotiations for a comprehensive investment agreement at their bilateral summit Nov. 21, adding that the agreement will be a critical step to increasing bilateral investment flows.
