BlackBerry And Wi-LAN Reach Deal To End Patent Feud

Law360, New York (October 9, 2013, 7:11 PM ET) -- BlackBerry Ltd. has signed a global settlement with patent licensing company Wi-LAN USA Inc. to end all litigation alleging the smartphone maker infringed on its voice transmission and data processing patents, the companies announced Wednesday. 

Under the deal, BlackBerry now holds a license to certain Wi-LAN wireless technology patents and is discussing licensing options for additional patents. The financial terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
