Kylie Minogue Stole Rhythm For 'Speakerphone,' Suit Says

Law360, New York (October 09, 2013, 5:49 PM ET) -- Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group and Kylie Minogue were hit with a copyright infringement lawsuit in California federal court Monday for allegedly lifting the rhythm for the singer's "Speakerphone" from a little-known disco track.

Copyright owner VMG Salsoul Inc. — the same company that accused Madonna last year of similarly ripping off a disco song for her 1990 hit "Vogue" — said Minogue intentionally copied the "entire rhythm" for the song from the 1979 track "Sing Sing" by Gaz.
