Hotfile Can't Appeal DMCA Liability Ruling To 11th Circ.

Law360, Miami (October 10, 2013, 8:24 PM ET) -- A Florida federal judge on Thursday denied Hotfile Corp.'s request to appeal a ruling that the file hosting site isn't protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act's safe harbor provisions in a copyright dispute with various film studios.

U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams refused to allow Hotfile to file an interlocutory appeal to the Eleventh Circuit of her summary judgment order ruling that the site was liable for vicarious infringement by allowing users to upload and download copyrighted material.
