US Audit Watchdog Adds 3 New Broker-Dealer Standards

Law360, New York (October 10, 2013, 3:52 PM ET) -- The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board adopted on Thursday two attestation standards and an auditing standard, which are intended to enhance the quality of broker-dealer compliance information used by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The U.S. audit watchdog's two new attestation standards establish requirements for an auditor’s examination of certain statements in broker-dealer compliance reports and review of the statements in broker-dealer exemption reports. The PCAOB's new auditing standard for audit procedures involves supplemental information that broker-dealers must file with the SEC.
