Detroit Nurses Urge 6th Circ. To Nix Class Cert. Appeal

Law360, New York (October 11, 2013, 6:45 PM ET) -- More than 20,000 registered nurses accusing Detroit-area hospitals of conspiring to suppress their wages urged the Sixth Circuit on Friday to not review class certification in the antitrust case, despite the defendant's "strained" comparison to the U.S. Supreme Court's recent Comcast Corp. decision.

Detroit Medical Center, also known as VHS of Michigan Inc., has asked the appeals court to do an interlocutory appeal of a September ruling certifying a class of nurses in the antitrust case, which is seeking more than $1.7 billion in damages....
