MoFo Steers Softbank's $1.5B Deal For 51% Supercell Stake

Law360, New York (October 15, 2013, 12:26 PM EDT) -- Japan's SoftBank Corp. said Tuesday it will shell out $1.53 billion for a majority stake in venture-backed Finnish startup Supercell Oy, giving it a bigger piece of a lucrative mobile-gaming industry and continuing a global push to expand through acquisitions.

SoftBank and its GungHo Online Entertainment Co. gaming unit will together take a 51 percent interest in Supercell, best known for its top-grossing, free-to-play "Clash of Clans" title and its popular "Hay Day" farm-simulation game.
