$1B Capital Plan To Upgrade Orlando Airport Wins OK

Law360, Miami (October 16, 2013, 7:55 PM ET) -- Major expansion plans that could double passenger capacity at Orlando International Airport took a step forward as the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority approved a $1.1 billion capital improvement plan at a meeting Wednesday.

The addition of the South Terminal would allow Orlando's airport to handle 45 million passengers annually, up from the current terminal's design for 24 million. The more immediate impact will be seen in a $470 million automated “people mover” complex and hundreds of millions of dollars in other improvements.
