Major Media Cos. Hit With IP Suit Over Online Video Services

Law360, Los Angeles (October 15, 2013, 9:36 PM EDT) -- Patent holding company Preservation Technologies LLC filed a slew of lawsuits Friday against major media companies, including CBS Interactive Inc., the Fox Broadcasting Company and New York Times Digital LLC, claiming their streaming video services infringe its patents for cataloging a digital multimedia library.

Delaware-based Preservation Technologies filed five nearly identical lawsuits against CBS, Fox, The New York Times, Target Brands Inc. and Vimeo LLC in Delaware federal court, saying the companies’ online video services and mobile apps use Preservation Technologies’ patents without permission.
