Dutch Cable Giant Ziggo Spurns Liberty Takeover Offer

Law360, New York (October 16, 2013, 2:54 PM ET) -- Liberty Global Inc. is vying for a bigger piece of Europe's fast-consolidating telecom sector, but hit a roadblock on Wednesday when Dutch cable operator Ziggo confirmed that it rejected the Colorado company's preliminary takeover bid as too low.

Ziggo did not spell out Liberty's proposed terms, saying in a brief statement only that the offer was “considered inadequate.” The target cautioned that it could not guarantee a revised bid from Liberty, which has clamped down on European pay-TV assets this year.
