Nursing Home Liable For Fraudulent Bills, NJ High Court Told

Law360, New York (October 22, 2013, 9:16 PM EDT) -- The Supreme Court of New Jersey was asked on Tuesday to determine whether a nursing home's allegedly unwarranted demand for payment warrants damages as a violation of the state's Consumer Fraud Act, or if the home can claim a professional exemption from the fraud law. 

Attorney Sander D. Friedman argued before New Jersey's high court on behalf of Francis O’Neill, who contends an admission agreement for the Manahawkin Convalescent Center wrongfully held her responsible for her mother’s debt as a patient.
