FTC Gives Nod To Emera's $541M Capital Power Plant Buy

Law360, New York (October 23, 2013, 3:07 PM ET) -- The Federal Trade Commission on Tuesday cleared Nova Scotia-based energy company Emera Inc.'s $541 million purchase of three combined-cycle gas-fired electricity generation facilities in New England from Capital Power Corp.

The regulator granted early termination of the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act waiting period for the deal that Emera claims will add 1,050 megawatts to its generation capacity in the Northeast. Representatives for the companies could not be immediately reached Wednesday for comment.
