DOI Pledges $162M For East Coast Storm Protection Projects

Law360, New York (October 24, 2013, 4:38 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of the Interior will invest $162 million in restoration and research projects along the Atlantic Coast, Secretary Sally Jewell announced Thursday, less than a week before the first anniversary of Superstorm Sandy.

The approximately 45 projects are aimed at restoring marshes, wetlands, beaches and shorelines as well as researching the impacts of storm surges to better mitigate future impacts, according to a statement.
