BankcorpSouth Customers Gain Ground In Overdraft MDL

Law360, San Francisco (October 25, 2013, 6:32 PM ET) -- A class of plaintiffs accusing BancorpSouth Inc. of rigging their accounts to unfairly charge overdraft fees grained ground Thursday when a Florida federal judge ruled they had raised valid claims that should be put to a jury.

In a battle for summary judgment, U.S. District Judge James Lawrence King handed a number of wins to plaintiff Shane Swift, who is leading the class action against BancorpSouth — part of multidistrict litigation challenging the bank's overdraft fee practices.
