Dual Citizen Charged Over Alleged Iran Missile Deal

Law360, Washington (October 25, 2013, 9:09 PM ET) -- An Iranian-American dual citizen has been indicted over his alleged role in attempting to acquire surface-to-air missiles for the Iranian government in violation of U.S. sanctions and weapon laws, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Manhattan announced Friday.

According to an amended complaint unsealed Friday, Reza Olangian, aka Raymond Avancian, had attempted to strike a deal to buy more than 200 IGLA-S surface-to-air missile systems, or SAMs, for Iran, in violation of U.S. sanctions against the country.
