Valeant Will Pay Anacor $143M Over Anti-Fungal Dispute

Law360, New York (October 28, 2013, 3:11 PM EDT) -- Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc. said Monday it will pay $142.5 million to Anacor Pharmaceuticals Inc. to settle a contract dispute concerning Valeant’s developmental nail fungus treatment.

The deal follows an arbitrator’s Oct. 18 order that Valeant pay Anacor $100 million in the matter. After the arbitrator’s decision was announced, Anacor, which had been seeking up to $215 million in damages plus injunctive relief, said it had additional claims against Valeant related to separate contractual rights and intellectual property rights and was deciding what to do about...
