Enviro Group Sues Pa. Waste Facility Over Water Discharges

Law360, New York (October 29, 2013, 3:20 PM EDT) -- Environmental group Clean Water Action launched a suit in Pennsylvania federal court Monday alleging Waste Treatment Corp. has illegally discharged gas drilling wastewater into the Allegheny River from its Warren, Pa., waste facility, in violation of the Clean Water Act.

Washington-based Clean Water Action alleges that WTC has been continually discharging 200,000 gallons a day of gas drilling wastewater containing harmful concentrations of chloride and other pollutants into the Allegheny River, and has violated the discharge limits set in a national pollutant discharge elimination, or NPDES,...
