Ex-Chemical Co. President Gets 1 Year In Worker Death Case

Law360, New York (October 29, 2013, 5:44 PM ET) -- The former president of a defunct chemical company was sentenced to a year in prison by a Texas federal judge on Monday for failing to protect an employee from inhaling a poisonous gas that caused his death.

Matthew Lawrence Bowman, previously the president of Port Arthur Chemical and Environmental Services LLC, received a 12-month prison sentence and was ordered to pay $5,000 for violating the Occupational Safety and Health Act and making false statements.
