Contractor Suspension Reform Bill Clears House Panel

Law360, New York (October 29, 2013, 5:02 PM EDT) -- The House Oversight Committee on Tuesday passed an amended version of the Stop Unworthy Spending Act, a bill that aims to increase speed, uniformity and transparency of contractor suspension and debarment decisions by combining the civilian agencies' debarment offices into a single board.

The Suspend Act, or H.R. 3345, is sponsored by Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., and ranking member Elijah Cummings, D-Md., who say the bill will protect more than $1 trillion in taxpayer dollars that flows to contractors and grant recipients each year....
