Ex-HealthSouth Exec Gets One Year In Fraud Case

Law360, New York (December 22, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- Former HealthSouth executives continue to feel the ramifications of the company’s massive accounting scandal, with a judge sentencing a former vice president of the health care company to one year in prison in the aftermath of the $4 billion fraud.

Jason Brown, who once served as a vice president of finance for the embattled company, will begin serving his prison term February 1.

In handing down the sentence, Judge Sharon Blackburn said corporate thieves were no better than common criminals.
