Court Accepts $4M Settlement In Security Officer Suit

Law360, New York (February 28, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A judge has signed off on a $4 million settlement in a case that alleged security company Inter-Con Security Systems Inc. unlawfully failed to pay its security guards to attend 15-minute security briefings before each eight-hour shift.

In an order Monday, Judge Marilyn H. Patel of the U.S. District Court for the District of Northern California gave final approval to the settlement. She also said that 25% of the settlement fund or $1 million and $83,560 for costs and expenses should go to the plaintiffs' attorneys,...
