Nokia Loses Final Appeal To Avoid $252M Payment

Law360, New York (January 1, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia Corp. has lost its final bid to avoid paying a $252 million award to wireless technology firm InterDigital Communications Corp. to settle drawn-out arbitration between the two rivals.

A federal district judge confirmed in its entirety the final award handed down in June by the Arbitral Tribunal, which operates under the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce.
