Tri Pointe To Merge With Weyerhaeuser Unit In $2.7B Deal

Law360, New York (November 4, 2013, 1:07 PM EST) -- Tri Pointe Homes Inc. is merging with Weyerhaeuser Co.'s homebuilding business in a $2.7 billion deal that will make California-based Tri Pointe one of the top 10 largest homebuilders in the U.S., the companies announced Monday.

The deal will give Weyerhaeuser shareholders 130 million shares, or about 80.5 percent of the combined company, valued at $2 billion as of Nov. 1, with Tri Pointe also making a $700 million cash payment to Weyerhaeuser.
